Honestly, today was a great day in the neighborhood. Awesome day at work. No traffic happening both ways. Had a celebratory Teddy’s Kilauea Burger because I haven’t had one in a minute.

Then, I hear the best news today.

Congrats to the homies Roy & Kelly for the birth of their latest child: Lennon Ryu. Pretty amazing to see great people get blessed. And great people procreating and making amazing kids.

Nothing really more to say. Just wanted a blog post to commemorate the occasion.

The Past Reminiscing

So, in the midst of this shoe selling ordeal I’ve found myself in, I happened to troll back onto a sneaker forum.

Man, that brings me back.

2002. killing hours on Niketalk. WDYWT posts. All memories flooding back as I scrolled through the page of shoes on boxes, the acronyms VNDS, and the arrangement of kicks into everyday life.

That got me thinking about other things and somehow I managed to find my way back to an old blog of mine.

HOLY. CRAP. That was a shocker. Back when I really didn’t know a lot about life. Funny to see the way how people have grown.

And also to see the things that were important to me at the time.

Yeah, that was a little scary too.

Hindsight is a real pain, sometimes. Makes you think about how happy you were (at the time), how little you knew about the other person (at the time), and how it gloriously fell apart. I’m glad for the struggle, because we wouldn’t recognize the growth and the achievement on the other side. I’m glad to see where my dreams were before (hella selfish) and see how they look like now (less selfish).

But, I was glad to see the honesty in the words, the realness of the emotion, and the really emo thoughts I had at the time. Sure, I still get like that, but I’d like to think I’m a bit more eloquent now.

Some things aren’t meant to be seen again; others are meant to be a reminder of what once was. I’m glad there’s a little digital time capsule of life somewhere on the Internet that I can look back at… and laugh at myself.

I’m pretty sure this Tumblr will feel the same in about 5 years too. We shall see.
