Sunday Soundtrack 10/25: The Simpsons
This week’s Sunday Soundtrack was inspired by a tweet mentioning the first song of the playlist: CW McCall’s “Convoy.” Ian mentioned something about the episode where Homer gave Bart the magic mike for his birthday, in which he promptly used it to fake someone falling into the well. Yes, that’s TImmy O’Toole and we’re sending our love down the well.
That got me thinking about other songs that I’ve loved from the Simpsons:
“Stayin’ Alive” because of Disco Stu and the garage sale/George Bush episode.
“Why Can’t We Be Friends” because that was Homer’s intro music as he fought Drederick Tatum. Bonus: Homer’s nicknames were The Brick Hithouse and The Southern Dandy.
“(They Long To Be) Close To You” is Homer and Marge Simpson’s wedding song.
The last three songs are from my second favorite episode of the Simpsons: The Hullabalooza episode. ”Zero” is the song that the Smashing Punpkins are playing before they first meet Homer backstage. “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” happen when Homer and Barney are rockin’ out in the flashback. And, of course, “Insane In The Membrane” goes down when Cypress Hill steals Peter Frampton’s orchestra.
As always, enjoi the music and if you’re reading this on Facebook or Tumblr dashboard, check out the original post link or go to http://www.MisterJallDay.com to listen to the flash widget.
