Project 365: Scores from the Judges This past Thursday, I was asked to judge the second qualifier for the Beat Root producers battle series. To say that was fun is kinda underestimating the job. Listening to a beat critically and listening to a beat to get your head nod on is two very different things. Plus, when a beat knocks and thinking that the other beat just knocked a bit louder is kinda hard to use as a criteria for judging a contest. I totally came from the unbiased outsider position on the judging, so I think I was fair in that respect. But, does that mean I’d be down to judge another one of these? Well, if Kavet asked, sure. But definitely I’d much rather be covering the event than judging it. Next Beat Root is next month at Easy Music Center. You should check it out, for serious.
