My favorite June 1st memory and the first time where I really got psyched about playoff basketball was this moment. I remember vividly trying to hold off going to church because I wanted to watch the end of the game. There’s so many dope things about this game that makes it so memorable to me.
- First off, this is MJ going for #5.
- Black/White Playoff Jordan 12s were super official. I always thought it was fresh that MJ would have different kicks for home and away. Always the trendsetter.
- classic Marv Albert on the mic with Doug Collins on the color.
- Malone missing 2 free throws down the stretch and the classic “Mailman doesn’t deliver on Sundays” line from Scottie Pippen.
- And of course, the original fist pump. Copped by Tiger Woods. Emulated by Kobe Bryant. But nothing will beat the original. Even if he did push off of Byron Russell.
