Can’t hate on that. WITNESS!MVP for a reason!
Be afraid, NBA, LeBron James might have found the killer instinct. Seriously, in the playoffs, ESPECIALLY the first two rounds, he was pretty much playing in 3rd gear: revved up enough to be fast, but still really in cruise control… until Friday night.
True, he did only score only 35 (as compared to the 49 in game 1), but there was one big difference here and that’s this time, he’s not passing the rock.
That was the big difference at the end of game 1: he gave the ball up. When Pietrus went down, he should have just taken it to the hole, drawn contact & possibly hit the layup or at least go to the line with a chance to win. Instead, he drove again, got lost, and passed to Delonte West on the wing.
Delonte is NOT hitting that shot, no matter how many times it goes up. Trust.
This time, and I think Mo Williams said it best, LeBron was Option A, B, and C.
This is what made the Cavs winners last night and what sunk the Lakers on Thursday. In the final seconds of the game, you put the ball in your best player’s hands. Whether or not they take the shot is irrelevant, it’s the fact that it’s in their hands and they can make that decision for themselves.
While I admire KOBE trying to defend the final play in game two going to DFish… KOBE, you need to make that decision. You EASILY could have broken through Melo’s D, but you hung back and tried to play decoy.
Not when you’re down one and not when the series is THAT close.
Keanu Reeves and Gene Hackman (The Replacements) were right about one thing, WINNERS want the ball at the end of the game. In this series, LeBron has had the ball at the end of the game both times. This time, I think he’s figured out that he really wants it now.
Watch out.
